Living in Estoril

Estoril's history dates back to the 14th century, when it was a fishing village called "Monte Estoril". 

In the 19th century, it became a tourist destination for wealthy Europeans who built palaces, palatial villas and the famous Estoril Casino. 

During the Second World War, Estoril was a refuge for exiled spies and members of the royalty and the Palace Hotel served as headquarters for the British and German secret services. 

Estoril has a mix of traditional Portuguese, Art Deco and modernist architecture, including the iconic Estoril Congress Centre built in the 1950s, which to this day hosts international events.
